Thanksgiving in Atlanta

*no camera for the trip so no photos*
Andrew was on "short call" reserve Thanksgiving day which means he had to be able to drop everything and report to the Atlanta airport within 2 hrs of a phone call from work. So we decided to take our chances and go to Marietta (north of Atlanta) to have Thanksgiving with Andrew's family. We saw some family we hadn't seen in almost a year and the kids had a great time playing with their cousins. Joseph was a little upset with me since I wouldn't let him play on the stairs, but other than that we had a great time!
That night we decided to stay in Atlanta at a hotel near the airport (since Andrew was on short call the next day as well) and the kids thought that was such a treat! It was a 40 min drive to the hotel and I was determined to keep the kids awake so they would sleep once we got there and not be wired after having a short nap. Emily was the hardest to keep awake, but Andrew was silly enough to entertain them all.
The sleeping arrangements once we got there were fun. Joseph was in the closet area in a pack-n-play, all three girls slept sideways in a double bed and Andrew and I got the other double bed. Our plan worked and the kids were all asleep the moment their heads hit the pillow which was very nice because it allowed Andrew and I to watch a movie together.
Next day we decided not to head straight home (since we would have to leave Andrew in Atlanta) so we went to the Atlanta zoo instead. It is a really fun zoo and the kids had a blast! They saw Gorillas and a baby Giant Panda Bear, but I think their favorite part was getting to ride the carousel with all the different animals to ride on. Elizabeth rode an otter, Sarah was on a Lion, Emily a Tiger, and Joseph sat on a Giraffe. I really wished I had my camera!!
After the zoo we dropped Andrew off at the airport since he was called in and had to start a 4 day trip. I got to drive home with all the kids by myself. They did pretty well since we had DVD players with movies for them :) I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!!
*as a side note, I discovered after I got home that I did have the camera. It was in the diaper bag in a section I never use. Oh well!*
