The Alabama National Fair was in town this week so we decided to take the kids (although I think we had just as much fun as they did!) One of the first things we did was go to the circus. When we got inside the big tent we found some friends of ours (their little girl is Elizabeth's best friend) so we hung out with them most of the time we were there.
Our seats were right in the front and I was amazed at how close the elephants came to us. There were also jugglers, clowns, and some performing horses. It was a lot of fun.

We also got to watch the sea lions do their tricks. They balanced a ball on their nose, shot some hoops, danced for us, and even caught and threw Frisbees! The girls were amazed by them; Joseph missed it all since he fell asleep in his stroller right before it started.

There wasn't enough room on the bleachers for all of the girls, so Sarah got the best seat in the house.

Right on top of her daddy's shoulders!

Our fair fish from last year just died last week (thanks in part to Miriam's
fish sitting :) so we let the girls try to win another one this year. All 3 girls got a basket of balls and had to throw a ball and get it in one of the many fish bowls. Elizabeth was sure she would win one, but it ended up being Emily's ball that made it into the fish bowl. After that we let each kid pick one thing that they really wanted to do at the fair. Elizabeth wanted to win a Gold Fish herself so she wanted to get extra balls. She did not end up winning another fish. The twins wanted to "ride the horses". While we were waiting in line to get on, Emily noticed that Elizabeth was sad and asked me why. I told her Elizabeth was sad because she did not win a fish. Emily's reply was so sweet. She looked up at me and said "she can have my fish!" Emily then ran over to Elizabeth and gave her the fish she had just won. I'm so glad I have such sweet kids!

Yep, I never go on that ride at all!!! But I don't hesitate to tell the story to anyone who will listen. My poor husband has probably heard it more times than he can count!
But Mr. Crush was SO cute and so nice about it all. What could have been a terrible experience has ended up being a fun memory. Well, maybe not fun per se, but funny.
I will never think of the Alabama State Fair the same way again. :)
