Big Boy Bed

A couple weeks ago Joseph made the decision that he was to old to sleep in his crib anymore. I was really hoping to keep him in there a lot longer, but he had other ideas and just kept climbing out when we put him in for naps or bed time. I realized it was a lost cause and finally just pulled his matress out of the crib and put it on the floor. He really liked this idea and climbed right in and off to sleep he went. The only problem with this arangement is he kept ending up on the floor. Andrew soon remembered we had a toddler bed in the attic that some friends of ours had given us. We put it together and realized it was not going to work for Joesph. It was a little taller than the other toddler beds we had and it had no side rails. Now Joseph won't even lay on a changing table because it freaks him out and he did the same thing with this new bed. Emily (being the sweetheart that she is) agreed to trade beds with Joseph. She took the "new" white bed with no rails and gave Joseph her Blue princess bed.
Once he was used to the toddler bed we took out the crib. My hope is that having it out of his room for a few months he will forget it was his when we put it back up for the baby. (The baby will be in our room in a bassinet about 6 wks after he is born.) Besides the fact that it has Princesses on it, the new bed looks great in his room :)

Yep, good thing he doesn't notice the princesses.

that was sweet of Emily to give up her princess bed.

We had a similar problem, except that Daniel jumped out of his crib but then refused to sleep anywhere else. We had to switch sleeping arrangements--again--and we took the side off of his crib, which seems to be working. It should now be an easier transition to a big boy bed.

I'm so glad you all found a solution!
