Safety scissors aren't so safe

Every week day I try to do preschool with Emily and Sarah in the mornings. As Joseph is getting older he wants to participate more and more which I love. Today part of what we were doing involved cutting and gluing and little Joseph wasn't content to just watch his sisters use the scissors; he wanted to cut too. Now he has used the kids preschool scissors before with no problem . . .but today we weren't so lucky. Before I could catch him he put them in his mouth and snip . . . cut the tip of his tongue. Talk about a lot of blood!! I was seriously beginning to wonder whether his tongue was ever gonna stop bleeding. Of course it finally did and he eventually quit screaming. I let him suck on some ice for a little while and that seemed to help. I think I'm gonna look and see if I can find any of those all-plastic-guaranteed-to-cut-only-paper-scissors. Maybe they'll be a little less hazardous . . .

Ouch! Cutting your tongue has got to really hurt. Hopefully he can still eat all his favorite foods.
